Episode 11: Samsung Color Laser Printer

Monday, November 7th, 2005

Under $500 Recommendation:
Samsung Color Laser Printer (Model CLP-510)
Available at Bestbuy for $399 before a $100 rebate.

Reason:
Laser printers are considerably better than inkjet. The quality is better and it provides a cleaner more professional look. Overall the cost of ownership is lower than that with an inkjet, when you consider the cost of ink cartridges versus toner.

I checked this one out at Bestbuy and even on cheap 20lb paper. I would recommend it as a good printer for at home. Additionally you can set it up for wireless network printing with an add-on.

Episode 6: Sprint PDA Phone (PPC-6700)

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

Under $500 Recommendation:
Sprint PPC-6700 PDA Phone
Unfortunately cannot currently find it on the sprint site.
Learn more about PDA phones at PDA Phone Home.

Reason:
The PDA phone brings a lot of things together in a convenient way. Keep ALL of your contacts with all of their information accurate by using the same records on your computer and your phone. Just sync to keep current. Keep your calendar, contacts and other useful files with you all the time.

Store and play mp3 from your Pocket PC based PDA. Use bluetooth devices like a gps solution or headset. Use it for web access. All in all, they are great devices and definately a better buy than something like the Motorola / Itunes Rockr.

I am currently using a PPC-6600 which I really like and will be making the upgrade to the 6700 soon.

Episode 6: Do Not Spend Money With Geeksquad

Thursday, October 6th, 2005

Avoid at all costs spending any money with or even allowing the Geek Squad to touch your computer!

Geek Squad recently acquired by Best Buy is a rip off! You will not get resolution to your problem. You will be over charged despite the lack of resolution!

Additionally, it seems that according to the Geek Squad the best (and possibly only) way to fix a computer problem is to reformat your hard drive. Which they will do for you after backing up your system for a ridiculous price. Check out the kid next door. He knows just as much, will work cheap and only gets paid for results.

Under $500 Recommendation:
Pre-order the Xbox 360 Premium Edition ($399.99)

Reason:
The Xbox 360 is going to be the best gaming system available for atleast a year. It promises to provide great entertainment atleast until the release of the Sony PS3 and probably long after.

The premium edition offers many extras that would cost alot more as add-ons that would cost considerably more than buying the standard edition and a few extras.

Premium Edition gives you these extras:

detatchable 20gb hard drive
